My work has a strong relationship between textile design, a wearable form and its beauty as art. Our surroundings both in nature and architectural design and how they make me feel. My own style and techniques began early on from my background in Fashion and design paving a way for the direction and style I use in the creative world today.
My motivation comes from nature’s richness, vibrant and contrasting soft colour palette and texture, recreating that emotion we embrace when we see that natural beauty. Gold leave’s, cool breezes, ocean hollows, currents and all nature embraces telling stories as they reflect a calming innocence on our urban world.
Jennifer’s evolution and experimentation of her art processes developed through movement, light and reflection, which are translated through a mixed medium of colour, cloth, hand and machine stitch, paint, photographic and print. These mediums have evolved to create artworks that reflect our nature and urbanity through mapping, pattern and shape.
Jennifer Gaye’s unique textile artworks have been commissioned both locally and Internationally.
